Josh Harvey-Clemons Commits And Finally Signs To Georgia Over Florida

Josh Harvey-Clemons, the No. 31 rated recruit according to Rivals, committed to Georgia, announcing the news on ESPNU on National Signing Day 2012, but did not sign with the Bulldogs until Thursday. Harvey-Clemons, who played for Lowndes High in Valdosta, chose Georgia over Florida and Florida State.

Harvey-Clemons' relationship with Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham may have been the leading factor in his commitment. Harvey-Clemons cited Grantham's track record with putting players in the NFL as his most important attribute.

Harvey-Clemons was the second-highest athlete in the Rivals rankings, trailing only Eddie Williams, who is an Alabama commit. He joins a Georgia squad that has made a resurgence in recent years under eternally embattled Mark Richt, and adds to a linebacking corps that already had Jarvis Jones in it.

The long recruiting battle for his services is finally over. Despite being unable to secure his Grandfather's signature on his LOI yesterday, he was able to this morning. Meaning that Harvey-Clemons is officially a Bulldog. Which in the end, is what he chose. Florida could have used "JHC," certainly, but was always looking at an uphill battle in terms of getting him out of the Peach State.

Damn. :(

I thought we had a serious chance after everything that went down yesterday. Bummer.

Our depth chart is murder right now.

him choosing UGA is not an issue now, but this is one that will hurt more in 2013/2014, depending on when Powell and Jenkins leave.

Yeah, I think as of now we sit at 77. 78 if Diggs comes.

Agreed. I’m thinking Jenkins is gone next year…

Isn’t Jenkins going to be a senior this year anyway? Or is he only a redshirt junior? I don’t see him leaving early for the NFL though. But if he’s a senior he’s gone anyway. As for JHC, he was being recruited to play the Buck position. The loss of him was probably more or less supplanted by flipping Dante Fowler Jr. It obviously would have been nice to get him, but once we got Fowler he was no longer an absolute need. Powell is probably the future at the weakside OLB spot. The only things missing in this class in my opinion are 1 or 2 more bodies for the OL (3 if Dante Phillips doesn’t move to offense) and a game changing WR. If Diggs, signs, that makes the WR things better.

Jenkins did redshirt, so he’ll be a RJR this season.

Yeah, I don’t see Jenkins leaving early either. Unless he has on of those first team All-American type years.

Could happen

he’s ridiculously athletic, and if Florida’s d-line lives up to expectations, then the linebackers should be making a lot more big plays.

Yeah, I mean, I know he’s talented and all, athletic and what not, but unless he’s a 1st round pick, he probably shouldn’t leave. Then again, I don’t know his personal situation (read: family, money … etc.) and that can change things.
