Chomping At Bits: Florida Gators See New Name Emerge For Offensive Coordinator

Chomping At Bits comes stocked with the best Florida Gators links and news we can find. Got a link we should check out? Email us at AlligatorArmy@gmail.com, subject line CAB.

Jordan Jenkins to announce tonight: Jenkins will announce tonight at 7 p.m. eastern time. The No. 5 defensive end is down to Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Georgia. Don't worry folks, according to his father, the fact that he is announcing tonight, has nothing to do with the BCS National Championship Game. (Josh Ward, MrSEC)

Bobby Bowden compares 'Bama - LSU to UF - FSU: Bowden says that Alabama has the edge over LSU in the same way that Florida did against Florida State back in 1996. The Crimson Tide might have that edge, but with the game being play at night, in New Orleans, with the Mad Hatter on the sidelines, I'm not so sure. (Mike Bianchi, Open Mike/Orlando Sentinel)

Brian Schottenheimer for offensive coordinator?: As you may remember, Schottenheimer played sparingly for the Gators as a back-up to Danny Wuerffel from 1994 to 1996 after transferring from Kansas. ($ 24/7 Sports)

Star-divide

Twitter reacts to Tebow: Celebrities and athletes react to the wonder that Tim Tebow. I don't normally get into things like this, but this is pretty good. (Adam Silverstein, Only Gators)

Checking on Tebow's birth story once again: I'm sure we all know the story by now, but reading it one more time can't hurt, can it? (Carole Fader, The Florida Times-Union)

Road woes no reason to panic: Both the SEC and NCAA tournaments are played on the road. I'd much rather have them figure out the problem now, instead of March. But that's just me. (Greg Luca, The Independent Florida Alligator)

Gators women lose second SEC game: Jennifer George had yet another double-double, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 17-point deficit to South Carolina. The Gators fall to 11-5 overall, 1-2 SEC. (Gatorzone)

Hail Florida Hail opens for business: As we talked about yesterday, The Bull Gator has moved on to another network. His new website, is officially opened for business. (The Bull Gator, Hail Florida Hail)

As always: Talk about any and all of this and/or anything else you have to say in the comments. Need more Alligator Army in your life? This is one of the few times I'll ever say this

and I hate the Tide way more than I hate LSU and we play them every year … go figure
BUT

GEUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I approve and I also don’t think anything less of you.

GEUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geaux Tigers

My second favorite team. I also might dislike Bama more than any other SEC team right now.

It's not so much Bama as it is Saban for me

Saban has a lot to do with it for me … the fact that like ECF said above, for some mysterious reason I don’t have a single problem with LSU, the fans of LSU are better than the fans of ’Bama…etc.

Having said that, if it was ‘Bama against a non-SEC team, I’d be rooting for ’Bama.

Me too

which is what sucks. What bothers me the most is that basically Bama has a shot to win the SEC championship again …

As a whole

food at LSU tailgate > food at Alabama tailgate

So yes Geaux Tigers

So very true.

for the record

I too would root for Bama against any non-SEC team.

I know we seem to hate 'Bama more than LSU, but...

…if LSU wins tonight, that’s three BCS-era titles for them, which breaks their tie with us. If ‘Bama wins, it’s a three-way tie.

I’m rooting for LSU, but I’m keeping that in mind.

We’ll just have to go on a run of dominance starting next year then…

let's not forget also

that if Bama wins tonight Nick Satan … sorry, Saban, will have 3 BCS championships. More than Meyer or any other Coach who previously coached at UF. If LSU wins, it will be a three way tie of Miles, Saban, and Meyer.

We can still claim a tie with LSU for most titles since 1993.

or over 20 years
2.5 NCs for LSU if they win

LSU is literally the luckiest team on earth.

They don’t have to play USC in ’03
and ’07 LSU was probably the worst national champion of all time too.

well in that case

we win any tie for success against LSU if they win (over the past 20 years)

Nah, they get a full NC from the USC thing. USC got AP national champs, which the AP poll means as much as a poll I’d make. The BCS is coaches poll, has it’s own game … etc. Makes it worth everything.

You’re dead on with this comment. Living in Los Angeles I have to explain to USC fans time and again that their coach signed on the dotted line that the BCS determines the national champion. Therefore USC could not have been national champs in 2003 because they didn’t even play in the title game. Claiming otherwise is just sour grapes, because there was a previously agreed to contract in place. They never want to listen to the logic though. Big surprise. They also think the 2006 USC team that lost 13-9 to 6-6 UCLA would have beaten Florida in the national title. They’re delusional.

Yep. Same goes with the Big 12 or whatever it was with their “division tie” being settled by BCS Standings. Each party involved agreed to it beforehand.

And you’re correct, there is no chance that USC beats us that year. Delusional is a perfect word to describe them.

Presistently -delusional

is how I would describe almost every USC fan I’ve met.

Oh I like that. Might just have to use that in the future. With of course giving proper citing to you.

I thought the half was for 2007

That team didn't deserve a full title

but no I was talking about when the title was split between LSU and USC

In 2007, USC was never voted #1 in any poll.

I was speaking more to the

2 loss season of LSU. nothing to do with USC.

I mean we started all this on LSU possibly winning 3 BCS championships, and I then expanded it out to say Florida from 93 to 2012 is only school with 3 titles so they would just be catching up, but if they only have 1.5 now cause of 2007 or 2003 or the combination thereof well then Florida is still in the lead regardless if they win tonight.

Ahhh, okay. Carry on.

Luckiest team on earth

let’s not forget that in ’03, ’07 and now in ’11 the BCSCG just so happens to be played in NOLA……it sure helps to be playing in your own backyard!!!

I have no problem with LSU’s luck – I like their coach, many of their players, their fans and I love their tailgating.

As much as I hate Saban

I could care less if Meyer’s records are eclipsed
