Recruiting: Jonathan Bullard Commits To Florida

Florida got a nice semi-surprise during the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday: North Carolina defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard committed to Florida during the fourth quarter of the game, giving Will Muschamp another great prospect for his defensive line.

SB Nation recruiting editor Bud Elliott thinks Bullard will be an impact player:

Bullard is roughly 6'4" and 255+ pounds, which classifies him as a strong-side defensive end. He's raw, but shows the ability to shut down the run and set the edge. But he can also rush the passer.

Rivals rates Bullard as a five-star prospect, and he's definitely got the sort of big body that Florida's somewhat undersized line needs to compete against the bruising running games of the SEC. In addition, he's likely to be a true defensive end, and a good one, something Florida hasn't really had since the departure of Carlos Dunlap and Jermaine Cunningham for the NFL.

Bullard is also a teammate of (Shelby, N.C.) Crest High safety Rhaheim Ledbetter, a fellow Florida commit, and follows the footsteps of another Shelby/Crest product Gators fans might remember: Brandon Spikes.

Excellent.

Now some offensive playmakers, pretty please?

Welcome aboard Bullard.

HIP HIP HOOOOORAY!!

This makes up for our Basketball team sucking #$&* today.

You rang?

I think there are much better pictures than this...

Not exactly something I would be proud to post.

Welcome to UF Jonathan Bullard!

Does anyone know how his grades are? I know they were of some concern in the past…

Don’t be a wet blanket Fla.

Somebodies gotta do it

Must be a terrible burden

I almost didn’t say it, which is why it is low on the comments.

Its still pretty good question

Well, here are some other people talking about it as well. Link.

It’s almost to the point, that if I thought a guy might not qualify, I wouldn’t even recruit him. I guess you could do a sign and place, but there is no guarantee that he’ll come back either. We have like 3-4 of these guys this year. That’s more than enough.

3 or 4 of what? Questionable academic guys?

Who are you referring to? With all due respect, you’re talking about “rumors” that haven’t been in any way confirmed, and have been largely perpetrated by a fanbase that was recently snubbed by the recruit in question. It always amazes me how these things grow legs…do you a single confirmable source for this?

Oh, yeah, that’s what I meant. Like Bullard, 3-4 guys who seem to be in that “area” of grades and not. I wasn’t meaning to say that it is for certain, just 3-4 guys rumored (like you said).

Rhaheim Ledbetter being another one of course. Mostly just people talking about it. That’s all. So I was just curious. I was the one who asked the question at first.

I know what you know

which is that there haven’t been any rumors about Bullard’s grades until the past week, when Clemson fans started saying that. Where they got it from, I have no idea. I just shake my head sometimes at how these things get started.

Yeah, that’s why I posted that link above. From Gatorcountry I think it was.

yeah but read it..

there is no source, just a “hey I heard there might be….” it’s the same gossip recycled.

Oh I agree, was just wondering…

We needed this guy bad!

Looking at FSU’s commits on the D-line in Edwards, Fowler and Casher, we are in trouble in the next couple years. The good news our secondary is going to be insane with Roberson and Poole and Maye coming in! If we lock down Tracy Howard then no one is gonna be throwing passes against us!

Maye was a beast the other night. I'm excited about his potential
Im surprised

Didnt expect to get any more 5 star recruits.

welcome to the gator nation Mr. Bullard.

your legacy awaits…
