Totally ripping off The Sports Guy's shtick and going over the last week of games, but without any humor.
- Calling a drunk Hanson at the Southwest Florida Gator Club event after Sam Bradford's shoulder got rocked;
Me: I have no idea who their back up is.
Hanson: Is it Rhett Bomar?
Me: Maybe it's JC Watts.
- Willie Williams, former prized Miami recruit who once decorated the Gainesville 34th Street Hilton with a fire extinguisher, was arrested outside of Atlanta last week. Williams is long gone from Miami and his fall from five-star recruit to common criminal is a tragedy. Maybe nothing could be have been done to make Williams more mature, but colleges often let kids grow out of control. They fail to realize their athletes are still growing kids, and kids can do a lot of stupid things.
- For the FSU-BYU game next week in Provo, do you think the BYU bookstore is selling shirts that say, "Morons vs. Mormons: FSU-BYU 2009"?
- The one good thing about living in Tallahassee is to see the pain people have after the Miami game. The best was the person who said, "At least we didn't play Charleston Community College." Yes, but FSU gets 1-AA Jacksonville State this weekend, so FSU fans shouldn't bitch about scheduling their rival in the first game of the season. Maybe if they could sell out games normally instead of promoting the crap out of each one, they wouldn't have to play Labor Day night.
- While sober, Hanson brought up how excited everyone was about college football starting this year. He made the claim that we are all more excited than in previous years because the economy is still in bad shape. I think he's right, but I'd add in that we are in the most partisan atmosphere in decades. After a while, people just get sick of debates and would rather debate SEC or Big 12. Plus, rooting for your team unites people far better than if you want a public option or not.
- Like I mentioned in my SEC Power Poll ballot below, we'll know more about the Gators on September 19. That's when Urban will explore the studio space and break out the real offense.

That's funny
A 0-1 FSU team playing a pretty marginal Miami team at home actually questions the Gators schedule? It isn’t like the year-to-date 5-7 ACC is really all that tough of a league. Do they remember that we play each other at the end of the year…oh, I guess a 3-7 team won’t be that scary when they walk into the swamp.
Good plan FSU, you can’t beat us on the field, but you certainly can hurt our strength of schedule!

I came here to get some knowledge about the Gators so I can communicate more resourcefully when conversing with my many UF fan friends. Instead, the first thing I read is some bullshit post taking shots at FSU and a notice about not saying anything disrespectful unless it’s about Florida State before I agree to terms so I can comment.
I’m an FSU fan. Have been my whole life. I typically refrain from bashing the Gators and always try to look at them respectfully because it’s a good organization even though deep down inside I don’t like them at all. The team the gators have put on the field over the last few years speaks for itself. Why would I bash them?
Same thing should maybe go for you guys. The team FSU has put on the field over the last few years has been less than spectacular, but overall the team has been excellent during Bowden’s tenure. Everyone has down years and I believe it’s time for Bowden and Mickey Andrews to ride off into the sunset. It’s time for them to step away and let the program get back to where they were. But for Alligatorarmy, what is the point in kicking someone when they’re down? What is the point of even mentioning FSU on this site unless it pertains in some way to the Gators (which it definitely doesn’t here).
I expect it from certain Gator fans, just like I would expect it for certain Seminoles fans. Everyone has uneducated fans that will be haters. But for a site like this, seems like the fan posts should hold themselves to a little higher level. I know Tomahawknation.com does.

I’m pretty sure it was a joke man. I mean, FSU is Florida’s biggest rival. It would be like going to a game at The Swamp and expecting the fans to cheer for Tennessee, FSU, LSU, or Miami. It’s absurd.

So what would you do about our OCC schedule?
I know its weak, other than the usually decent FSU, but with the schedule weak we still can go to the NCG with one loss. Would you honestly say that you would want FSU to schedule unessisarily hard teams?

It's pretty weak but...
the overall schedule is not as weak as some people would like to make it out to be. Out of conference wise, it could be a whole lot harder that’s for sure. The thing is, you’re in the SEC, so no matter what, every SEC opponent you play is going to be up for that game wanting to knock you guys off. So that’s tough. Has Auburn been better than Florida in the past however long? No. But they won those last two (I’m pretty sure). So that stuff happens.
Even though Alabama isn’t on the schedule, there’s a decent chance you’ll play them in the SEC Championship.
In my opinion, you would have to win all the way through to make it to the National Championship. Obviously there’s tons of factors, but unless the loss came early in the season and Tebow fires everyone up and just demolishes the rest of the competition like last year, I think you will need to go undefeated.
I’m low on Florida State’s defense, but their offense at the end of the year could be really solid. I’m looking forward to see both the gators and Noles going forward this season. Always an interesting matchup (at least until the game actually starts).

I don’t necessarily want FSU to schedule ultra tough teams because we have a hard enough time taking care of our own division nowadays, but back in the 90’s I did enjoy the fact that we played Miami and Notre Dame because it showed we weren’t afraid to match up with anyone. Gave us some street cred. Also cost us a couple championships.
I would love to see the Gators matched up with USC every year. I think that would be an awesome game.

I would love to see the BCS open up a little bit (since it’s what we have right now) so we don’t have to watch USC pound X Big Ten team every year. There are plenty of teams I would love to see USC play, like Texas or Alabama last year.
