Cash rules everything around Urban Meyer now that he has signed a new deal with Florida, paying him $4 million per year. The deal runs until 2014 and will make Meyer the highest paid coach in the SEC. Meyer had been making about $3.5 million. However, there are at least two coaches who Meyer will not be able to yell, "Dolla, Dolla bill y'all." Pete Carroll and Charlie Weis still make north of $4 million. Meyer has also said he will donate a portion of his salary to a scholarship fund at UF for kids who are the first in their family to attend college. (And if you don't get the references in this post, I suggest you check out the Wu-Tang Clan.)

Actually.
Doesn’t Les Miles have a clause in his contract that makes sure he’s the highest paid coach in the conference? Maybe it was Saban or he too might have something along those lines…

Miles. But as of now, Meyer is in the lead.

Nope, Les immediately gets $1000 more per year.
Sadly, Sportscenter mentioned that as a “good reporting job” by Chris Lowe, when it’s been public knowledge for at least a year.

Hmm... would the scholarship to which Coach refers too...
be the first person in the immediate family to attend college?

Florida Opportunity Scholars goes to the first in a generation, and you have to be economically disadvantaged. Every school has one, but UF’s needs to get larger because of a rise in tuition.

Okay, thanks.

so does Les get a raise too or what?
I’ve seen this reported a few times already (this excerpt from EDSBS)"
F$#@ Sooners, get money. Packing two of the last three national-title trophies and gunning for another one in ‘09, Urban Meyer is getting a raise that will jack his salary up to an even $4 million a year, meaning that not only Urban but entire future generations of Meyers will be makin’ it rain for the indeterminate future. Before you ask, yes, Les Miles has a clause in his contract that entitles him to make at least $1,000 more than any other conference coach, but apparently it only kicks in if Miles wins the national title this year — thereby saving LSU from having to give The Hat a quarter-million-dollar raise for going 3-5 in the SEC last season. (See, if they just gave Les the highest salary in the conference, they’d only be spoiling him; this way, he learns the value of money.)
But then, I have also seen the +$1000 clause reported to kick in with no mention of a championship requirement…..

I've seen it reported else where as being championship-dependent.

Dr. Saturday concurs
Miles only gets the bonus when he wins a title.
