From ESPN's Mark Schlabach;
Legendary Florida State coach Bobby Bowden, who built one of college football's greatest dynasties in 34 seasons with the Seminoles, plans to announce his retirement Tuesday morning, sources close to the situation told ESPN.com...According to sources, Bowden was given two options: return to FSU in 2010 as an ambassador to the program, in which he would have little input in the day-to-day operations of the program, or retire after the Seminoles' upcoming bowl game.
FSU's season long coup is now complete and an era ends in Tallahassee. Bowden never defeated Urban Meyer or Tim Tebow and his last win against the Gators was the 2003 ACC Refs/Swindle In The Swamp. We're only sad to see him go in that I was hoping FSU would go back to being a girl's school under his watch. Although, from what I've seen of Jimbo Fisher against Meyer (three games at FSU, 12ppg, one touchdown; two games at LSU, 15ppg, four touchdowns), Fisher doesn't look like much of an improvement. Big congrats to FSU for humanely removing Bobby Bowden before the NCAA takes away 14 of his wins for university-sponsored cheating. Now they just need to pull down Bowden's statue, Baghdad style.

Also
Isn’t he leaving town now with a losing record to the Gators all-time, thanks to the loss Saturday?

I'll give it to the Nole fans
They sure do have Blind Faith to have hope for next season, or any future season.

honestly
Bowden should’ve called it quits three years ago, because he hasnt coached a down since then he has been a guy on the sidelines for the camera to look at, jimbo and micky did all the coaching bowden was there to be on tv and forget things dadgumit. If Bowden left 3 years ago when he should have jimbo may of had a chance at being successful as head coach, but bobby hanging around hoping for one last championship has dug jimbo a hole so deep it will take atleast 4 or 5 years to really contend for a national title(if FSU gives him that long, they have basically gave him 3 years already Bowden didn’t do anything). As a Gator fan I want FSU to come back to prominence so the FSU UF rivalry is more than just a varsity vs JV game like the one this year was, and in my opinion the best way for FSU to get back to prominence is to hire a new coach from the outside, and hire a good defensive coordinator that runs something to stop the spread(like every team in the country runs the spread now)
