While celebrating their 30th anniversary, my parents were on a dolphin cruise near Sanibel Island. My Dad was wearing a Bucs shirt when another woman on the boat started talking to him about football. Then this exchange;
Woman: And I'm a big FSU fan...
Mom: leaning past my Dad and into the woman Well, we can't talk to you anymore. We're Gators.

People just don’t get it outside of Fla. Out here they think its like TX & A&M: Longhorns and Aggies make jokes about each other, but they wear their hats and shirts etc. in the others’ home territories for eg. and no one even notices or says anything. Same for USC and UCLA in Los Angeles. I guess some fans in other southern cross-state rivalries might understand: this is a life-defining (and therefore life-LONG) choice. Two different kinds of people, we chose the right road and they did not. The distance only grows. Eat ’em up, Gators!
